NOCC Small Groups: At North Oak, we believe that the life of a disciple of Jesus is best lived in the context of a community. It’s very difficult to really “know” a large group of people, so we encourage people to become involved in a small group of fellow disciples. God desires that His children become “transformed disciples” accurately representing the Kingdom of Heaven as ambassadors here on earth. Not one of us can see their own face. We need either a mirror or someone else to tell us what our face looks like or if it’s “dirty.” Likewise, we cannot accurately see ourselves so we need others to see what we are truly like. We need each other to “sharpen”, to encourage, and to gently confront each other when wrong. All of this is quite contrary to our culture here on earth, but it is right and very important if we are going to accurately represent Jesus Christ here on earth. We have a number of small groups that meet throughout the week in homes all over the area. We also encourage our adult education classes (adult Sunday school classes) to function as smaller groups as well. It is more important than we often know or realize to be involved with a group of people who know, understand and accept us, so we can mutually encourage the kind of growth God desires in His children. If you desire to become part of a small group, or if you have questions regarding small groups, please let Pastor John know by calling (785) 628-8887 or emailing . Jesus demonstrated the importance of "small groups" by forming a small group of his own. Obviously Jesus knew what he was doing when he formed a small group of disciples who spent three years with Him training so they could eventually train others to do likewise. Small groups at North Oak give us an opportunity to study God's word, pray, give care, serve, celebrate and shepherd in a safe, honest, open, loving atmosphere.
