Our Mission Our Core Values Our Approach Our Commitment Mennonite Brethren |
Our Approach:
1. WORD-BASED The source of
our
ministry is God. His guide for our ministry is the Bible –
not human wisdom. We value
the appropriate application of Scripture in our ministries. (James
1:22,
Matthew 7:24-27, Isaiah 55:11) 2. EMPOWERING
AND EQUIPPING (LAY
MINISTRY) Every member
is a
minister. We
believe that every Christian possesses God-given talents and gifts that
can be
used to participate in service. Therefore, we believe that it is a
responsibility of the church to encourage believers to use these gifts
(empowering) in Christian service. It is also necessary to prepare
believers
for works of service by equipping them with knowledge and skills with
which to
accomplish an effective ministry. (Ephesians 4:11 –12, Romans
12:6 – 8, 1 Peter
4:10 – 11) 3. PEOPLE-BASED The focus of
our
ministry is people – not programs. We
believe that our ministries should address the felt and
real needs of people in our church and community. We desire to show
Christ’s
love by respecting all people and building committed, caring and
nurturing
relationships. (1 Corinthians 12:5 – 6, Galatians 6:2,10) 4. COMMITMENT We value
a high level of commitment to the various ministries of the church. (2
Corinthians 8:5, Luke 9:23 – 25) See our 5. COMMUNITY The context of our ministry is community. The Christian mission occurs in community, where human lives and hearts touch. We believe the church is not a place you come to, but a "family" you belong to. With God's help, we push and pull each other up the mountain path of this faith journey. Sometimes we carry others, and sometimes we are carried. But we walk together. One expression of this is our desire to draw people into small groups, Bible studies, and Neighborhoods. |
