Areas to Serve:
GROWING Together IN UNITY! NORTH OAK COMMUNITY CHURCH MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES Your invitation to ministry! You are invited to participate
in the maturing process of ministry for the glory of God. In ministry, God's
people have the opportunity to mature spiritually and bear eternal fruit.
Without a ministry, a believer does not mature. Consequently, both personal and
corporate needs often are not met. Your ministry is to the people God has placed in your life. The spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of your family, those you work with, schoolmates, neighbors or other contacts are your ministry responsibility. Ministry to these people close to you is part of living a life pleasing to God. Your ministry is also within and through a local church.
This is your opportunity to indicate your willingness to serve. Please
prayerfully consider those areas where you have an interest or ability. Please email the church office (nocc@northoak.net) to let us know where you
would like to serve. You will not
necessarily be expected or asked to serve in all the areas you indicate. It is
possible that you will be challenged to serve in areas you have not indicated
if others perceive that you have certain gifts or abilities. ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ WORSHIP
MINISTRY TEAM Purpose: to lead all ages into an intimate and closer relationship with God through Scripture, prayer and music. 101.
Worship Ministry Team Member Open to all individuals, high school age and older, who are interested in leading our congregation into an intimate and closer relationship with God through Scripture, prayer and music. A heart’s desire to worship God is a requirement. Musical knowledge is helpful, but not required. The Team is responsible for planning the weekly worship services as well as some occasional special worship events and coordinating all of the vocal, instrumental, sound and computer personnel who are part of the worship ministry. The Worship Ministry Team meets together generally once per month (sometimes twice) for approximately two hours. 102.
Youth Praise Team Open to all middle school and high school students who are interested in leading our congregation into an intimate and closer relationship with God through Scripture, prayer and music. This team will be lead by a youth praise team leader. The youth praise team will be scheduled once a month. Out of this praise team, the youth will have the opportunity to do special music, offertory, preludes and Scripture reading. 103.
Worship Coordinator Within the Worship Ministry Team, a Worship Coordinator will coordinate the monthly schedule for worship leaders, vocalists, musicians, sound techs and audio visual, special music, children’s feature and offertory. This includes calling people and rescheduling people when changes need to be made. The worship coordinator submits this schedule and any additional changes to the church secretary. The worship coordinator types the monthly planned services before submitting them to the church secretary; usually four or five services a month. 104.
Worship Leading/Mentoring Do you have a desire to use your voice to lead the body of Christ in worship of our living God? Opportunities exist to lead worship for regular services and special events. You will lead a small team of vocalists and instrumentalists and will serve on a rotation for leading Sunday morning worship with frequency of service dependent on the number of leader/mentors available. A minimum of one practice with your team before each scheduled service is required. 105.
Worship Vocals Open to individuals high school age and older who have a heart to worship and desire to lead the congregation into the presence of God by using the vibrant energy and singing voice with which God has gifted them. You will be a part of a small team of vocalists and instrumentalists under the direction of a worship mentor and will rotate with other small teams, generally serving once a month. A minimum of one practice with your team before each scheduled service is required. 106.
Worship Instrumental We regularly use piano, organ, keyboard, guitar
and drums to back our vocalists in leading the congregation in worship. A heart’s desire to worship God and to lead
others into worship as well as proficiency on your chosen instrument is
required. You will serve with one or two
of the vocal teams, but generally will not be asked to serve more than twice
per month. A minimum of one practice with
your team before each scheduled service is required. At times a small ensemble,
a few strings or brass for example, or an individual instrument is used with
the regular weekly worship team. This
would require meeting with that team to practice a minimum of one time before
the scheduled service. 107.
Worship Specials If you have a heart’s desire to worship God with your voice or with a musical instrument, we would love to have you share your gift. This could be during preludes, offertory, communion or special music. The Worship Ministry Team requests that you first sing with a worship vocal team to familiarize yourself with the services, etc. Out of town guests (family, friends, etc) are welcome to do specials if they are recommended by another worship team member or a congregational member. We ask that you talk with the worship coordinator if you know of anyone who would like to be a part of our worship service. 108.
Worship Choir Open to individuals middle school age and older
who enjoy praising God through singing in a larger group than is used for the
worship team each week. The choir does
not rehearse or participate in the worship service regularly, but is used
several times a year, often together with the church orchestra, to share larger
musical works as part of our worship service.
The choir usually meets together for practice three or four times before
the scheduled worship service. 109.
Worship Orchestra Open to individuals with a minimum of intermediate proficiency on string, woodwind, brass or percussion instruments who enjoy praising God through sharing their gifts in instrumental music. The orchestra does not rehearse or participate in the worship service regularly, but is used several times a year, often together with the church choir, to share larger musical works as part of our worship service. The orchestra usually meets together for practice three or four times before the scheduled worship service. At times a small ensemble, a few strings or brass for example, is used with the regular weekly worship team. This would require meeting with that team to practice a minimum of one time before the scheduled service. 110.
Special Occasion Planning & Decorating Do you enjoy planning worship events for special times – for example, Easter, Thanksgiving, Advent Readings, or Christmas Eve? Do you enjoy using your artistic and decorating gifts to enhance and encourage participation in worship of our living God through banners, flowers, etc.? Let the Worship Ministry Team know and we will utilize you in service of our King. 111. Worship Ministry Assistants People willing to serve by providing assistance to the worship teams and Worship Ministry Team by making weekly calls to inform team members including vocalist, instrumentalist and sound technician of schedule practice and responsibilities. 112. Sound Technicians People wanting to be actively involved in the worship teams and services. Responsibilities include operating sound equipment for regular and special services and attending worship practice to establish good mix levels. Weekly responsibilities will be split between the technicians. Training will be provided for people with no experience. 113. A/V Operators Knowledge and skill with computers to operate the PC during Sunday and special services. Operations would run the worship songs and possibly the sermon notes. Attendance at worship rehearsals is required. There would also be a commitment of time to set the service up prior to rehearsal and services. A scheduled program of the songs will be provided. ~
